I have used and still use several different brands of batteries in my own RC cars and trucks. I am writing this battery review about a new and upcoming brand of RC batteries. There are two batteries I am going to review that were sent to me by the new company that develop and manufacture their own batteries. The team at Black Rockoo are RC enthusiasts and very experienced in the industry.
There are a lot of different brands of RC batteries out there. So, what brand should you choose? Well, read on for the Black Rockoo Battery Review. What is Black Rockoo? Will this battery fit in my RC car or truck? Let us dive in and take a look.
Black Rockoo 3S 5200 mAh 60C LiPo Battery
First up in this battery review is the Black Rockoo 3s 5200mAh 60c soft pack Li-Po that comes with a deans connector and balance plug. It comes in a nice company branded box. They even included operating instructions and warnings paper for proper Li-Po care. The weight of this battery is about average, depending upon what brand battery you are comparing it to. Some brands are heavier than others.
We compared the Black Rockoo 3s 5200mah 60c battery to a Lectron Pro 3s 5200mah 50c and found the Black Rockoo weighs an once more, which is not noticeable when running off-road. The performance is fairly close to each other. The Black Rockoo battery does have a slightly higher punch, which means you will have more power to the wheels at take off and be faster off the starting line. We have ran the black rockoo 60c battery in three different vehicles to really test it’s performance abilities.
Black Rockoo 3s 5200mah 60c specs: weight = 12.5 ounces. Length = 5 1/2″ width = 1 5/8″ thickness = 1 1/8″
We have run this battery in the Traxxas Slash 4×4, Traxxas Hoss 4×4, and Arrma Senton 4×4 vehicles, and it has fit in all of them with absolutely no problem. The battery performed great. It had plenty of power and had a run time of about 45 minutes.
If you are looking for a good all-around 3s lipo, this is one you don’t want to overlook. You can get yours here, Black Rockoo 60c soft pack
Through out our testing, this battery did not fall short in any aspect. The power and run time of this battery is sure to suit your needs.
Black Rockoo 3S 5200mAh 90C LiPo Battery
This next battery review is the Black Rockoo 3S 5200mAh 90C hard case LiPo with a deans connector and balance plug. The 90c battery also comes in a company branded box with operating instructions and proper Li-Po care guide. At first glance, the looks and feel of this battery seems to be constructed pretty well. We compared the physical size of this battery with a gens ace 3S 7000mAh 60c hard case that we have on hand. The Black Rockoo 90c battery has a weight of 13.0 ounces and is the same length and width as the gens ace and comes in just a touch shorter in thickness.
Black Rockoo 3S 5200mAh 90C specs: weight = 13.0 ounce length = 5 1/2″ width = 1 7/8″ Thickness = 1 3/8″
After running this battery in the same three vehicles as the previous battery, we can say that the power this battery has is truly impressive. The slash we used which is running a hobby wing system could never do wheelies well, until we strapped this battery in. When on a surface with high traction, the slash will stand on its rears throwing the front end up to the sky. On low traction surfaces, the slash would spin all four wheels the whole time we were on the throttle. When we could get the traction needed to take off, it would out run the Arrma senton.
During the course of our testing period we have run this battery pretty hard. Launching jumps in the gravel pit, running around on uneven terrain and grass and even on the pavement. No matter the terrain or situation, this battery definitely held its own. Most of the batteries we run all the time at least get warm by the end of the run. Even with some pretty aggressive bashing, this battery stayed cool and never got warm.
Weather you are in the market for new batteries for your rig or maybe just want to have an extra battery or two on hand, you should give the Black Rockoo 3S 5200mAh 90c a try. You can check it out here Black Rockoo 90c Hard Case
